About the position

Our client, a leader in the  shipping, freight, and logistics industry is currently seeking an Operations Clerk to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing inbound and outbound documentation, coordinating the planning of vessel discharge and loading operations, and assisting with the berthing and sailing of vessels. The role also includes the timely preparation and submission of relevant reports and files to principals and third-party stakeholders.

Candidates should possess relevant experience in a similar role within the maritime or logistics sector.
Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience within a shipping environment, preferably within ship agency operations, with prior exposure to junior operational functions considered essential.
  • Maritime or Logistics qualification at NQF Level 4 or 5.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime and after-hours, including weekends and public holidays, in order to support vessel operations while at the terminal.
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High level of stress tolerance and adaptability within a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
  • Proficient computer literacy and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-developed planning and organisational abilities.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to engage confidently and effectively with third parties at all levels.
  • Punctual, self-disciplined
  • Must possess own reliable transport.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to attend terminal operations at any time when operationally required.
