About the position
A fast-growing and entrepreneurial long-distance transport company is seeking a hands-on and financially astute Operations & Logistics Controller to oversee logistics operations across multiple depots while maintaining strong financial control over fleet costs, fuel management, route profitability, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily logistics operations across multiple routes and depots
- Monitor fleet utilization and route efficiency
- Coordinate with depot managers and fleet teams
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements
- Support contract execution (mining and long-distance routes)
- Monitor diesel usage and bulk fuel controls
- Track route profitability and operational cost allocation
- Manage operational floats and expense controls
- Ensure accurate data collection from depots
- Work closely with accounting to ensure financial accuracy
- Provide operational and cost performance reports to management
- Monitor KPIs (fuel consumption, maintenance, downtime, route margins)
- Assist in decision-making regarding expansion and fleet deployment
Requirements:
- Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Transport, or Finance
- 3-7 years' Experience in Transport/Fleet Operations
- Advanced Excel (non-negotiable)
- Transport or Long-Distance Fleet experience
- Valid Driver's Licence
- Willingness to travel to depots
- Must be hands-on, resilient, solutions-driven, and field-oriented
