Operations & Internal Auditor

Location: Middelburg, Mpumalanga (Extensive travel required)
Job Purpose
To ensure operational efficiency, compliance, and consistency across all branches by conducting regular site visits, performing internal audits, identifying operational risks, and assisting branches in resolving issues. The role plays a key part in maintaining standards in merchandising, stock control, and overall depot performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Branch Visits & Operational Oversight
- Conduct daily visits to branches (depots) across all regions
- Monitor overall branch performance and adherence to company standards
- Ensure operational consistency across all 23 branches
2. Internal Auditing & Compliance
- Perform regular internal audits to identify faults, risks, and non-compliance
- Evaluate stock control processes, shrinkage, and losses
- Compile audit reports with findings and actionable recommendations
- Follow up to ensure corrective actions are implemented
3. Merchandising & Store Standards
- Assess and improve merchandising standards in branches
- Ensure product displays are aligned with company guidelines
- Support branch revamps and layout improvements
4. Stock Control & Inventory Management
- Investigate stock discrepancies and assist with resolving issues
- Oversee and assist with stock write-offs and approvals
- Participate in and coordinate year-end stock takes
- Ensure accurate stock handling procedures are followed
5. Problem Solving & Support
- Identify operational challenges within branches
- Assist branch teams in resolving issues efficiently
- Provide guidance and practical solutions to improve operations
6. Reporting & Communication
- Maintain detailed audit and visit reports
- Provide regular feedback to management on branch performance
- Highlight trends, risks, and areas for improvement
7. Travel
- Travel extensively between branches (daily travel required)
- Occasional overnight stays may be required
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Operations, Logistics, Accounting, or Auditing (advantageous)
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in operations, retail, or auditing environment
- Experience in multi-branch or depot environments (highly advantageous)
- Strong understanding of stock control and inventory systems
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively
