Operational Risk Analyst at Bidvest Bank

About the position

To facilitate and monitor the effective operational risk throughout the organisation

RESPONSIBILITIES :

FINANCE
Cost Control

• Assist in curbing the bank's expenses
• Keep stationery, telephone and other costs under control

Stakeholder Relationship Management

• Establish and maintain positive relationships with members of all departments/ business units within the organization
• Establish and maintain a positive presence of the risk function in assigned departments and business units by fostering constructive professional relationships with relevant members of management.

Teamwork

• Forge and maintain quality and value-adding inter-personal relationships within the department

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Risk assessments

• Independently conduct ongoing risk reviews at departmental and/or business unit level in line with the pre-determined coverage plan
• Facilitate risk assessments conducted by members of management of assigned departments and business units
• Recommend to management and facilitate implementation of practical and value-add mitigating strategies based on the results of risk reviews and assessments
• Conduct ad-hoc reviews on operational risk/loss events as requested by members of management

Risk register

• Facilitate maintenance of the risk register for assigned departments and business units

Regulatory reporting

• Assist with the interpretation and analysis of operational loss data for regulatory reporting purposes
• Managing and monitoring of user access on SAMEXWeb, SIRESSWeb, and Trustlink Prod.

Business continuity management and disaster recovery planning

• Assist with and facilitate the processes surrounding business continuity management and disaster recovery testing

Operational risk committee

• Construct the quarterly operational risk committee report for cluster portfolio
• Maintaining meeting attendance registers, taking and preparing minutes of minutes and collating and preparing supporting schedules to the committee meeting

Key risk indicators

• Facilitate implementation and ongoing monitoring of a key risk indicator framework

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications

• B Com degree (Majoring in Risk management / Auditing and/or Accounting)

Experience

• Risk management in banking industry
• 3 years' experience in risk management
• 3 years' experience in banking industry (general understanding and awareness of functioning of key functions within banking organization)
• 3 years' experience in auditing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
