About the position
Our client, a leading Engineering company is seeking an Operational Readiness Engineer to support the successful delivery of a capital project by ensuring that operational requirements are integrated throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will bring a combination of operational and project engineering experience, enabling a smooth transition from project execution to operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure operational readiness requirements are incorporated throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review engineering designs to improve the operability and maintainability of plant and equipment.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate or reduce operational and maintenance risks by engineering out hazards.
- Support project delivery by monitoring and contributing to cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
- Participate in project planning, execution, commissioning, and handover activities in line with established project work processes.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and operational readiness deliverables.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with project teams, operations personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Provide input to operational procedures, maintenance strategies, and readiness plans to facilitate a successful transition to operations.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering.
- Demonstrated operational experience in an industrial or processing plant environment, including:
- Strong understanding of plant operability and maintainability.
- Experience in identifying and engineering out hazards to improve safety and reliability.
- Practical project engineering experience with an understanding of:
- Project cost management.
- Quality management.
- Schedule management.
- Project phases and project work processes.
- Good technical writing and document preparation skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships in new environments.
- Willingness to work full-time on site in the North West Province for the duration of the contract.
