About the position
A well-established company from the engineering and manufacturing industry located in East Rand is seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Officer.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years' experience in an OHS-related role
- OHS qualification or currently studying towards an OHS qualification (preferred)
- Good understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Experience within the engineering, manufacturing or industrial environment would be advantageous
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with implementing and maintaining the company's OHS policies and procedures
- Conduct workplace inspections and identify potential hazards
- Assist with risk assessments and incident investigations
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and company standards
- Maintain OHS records, registers and documentation
- Coordinate safety training and inductions
- Monitor the use of PPE and promote a strong safety culture
- Assist with internal and external safety audits
- Liaise with management regarding health and safety matters
- Provide general OHS administrative support
