About the position

Our client, an established clearing and forwarding company, is seeking an experienced Ocean Import Release Controller to manage sea freight import handovers and releases.

Key responsibilities:

• 
  Manage ocean import handovers and arrange cargo releases.
  
  
• Liaise with shipping lines, groupage agents, transporters and warehouse teams.
  
  
• Ensure all documents, payments and release instructions are in place.
  
  
• Process cargo dues, check invoices and arrange payments.
  
  
• Coordinate customs examinations and inspections when required.
  
  
• Track shipments and manage deadlines to avoid delays and additional costs.
  
  
• Maintain accurate shipment records, documents and milestones on CargoWise.
  
  

Requirements:

• 
  Currently employed within a clearing and forwarding company, handling ocean import handovers and releases.
  
  
• A minimum of five years' relevant experience.
  
  
• Hands-on CargoWise experience is beneficial
  
  
• Sound knowledge of sea freight import documentation, release processes and customs procedures.
  
  
• Grade 12; a freight forwarding or related course would be advantageous.
  
  
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage high volumes under pressure.
  
  
• Able to work at the client's premises in Mobeni, Durban.
  
  

Candidates working as Ocean Imports Assistant Controllers, Import Assistant Controllers or Sea Freight Import Controllers are welcome to apply if their duties match the requirements.
