Night Shift Manager: Meat Plant at Famous Brands

About the position

Introduction

To ensure the efficient, cost effective and profitable management of the Famous Brands Meat Plant thereby ensuring that all products are produced and supplied to the customer at the required food safety quality standards and produced in a cost-effective manner and a happy environment

Duties & Responsibilities

• Planning in terms of all product requirements as per Central Planning.
• Ensure that the production, labelling and packing of stock meets the requirements from Planning, Warehouse, QC and DCs
• Handling the investigations of all production-related NCRs after internal or external customer complaints
• Ownership of the yields, plant utilities and reliability KPIs and proactively managing this by developing action plans and driving implementation
• Ensure that all risk management systems are in-place and in working order to prevent or significantly minimize the loss or theft of product within the facility.
• Manage the ordering of all non - stock requirements for production eg. consumables, cleaning materials, repairs, etc. with the support of the Administrator
• Ensure that systems and SOPs are in place for start-up, running, shutdown and cleaning of all stock
• Responsible for the care and maintenance of all moving machinery and non-moving assets in Production
• Responsible for safety in Production
• Ensure the accurate production of stock based on recipes and BOMs.
• Ensure that all vehicles are loaded for dispatch or received as per the Ops plan.
• Development of budget and maintenance of all costs in department
• Utilizing T&A system (Jarrison) to keep overtime and temporary labour to a minimum
• Responsible for MEC and FSSC22000 audit in terms of production, cleanliness, FB and HACCP standards on the shift.
• Assist in the development of work stoppage contingency and peak plans for area of responsibility
• Conduct regular spot checks on the production operational and cooking processes
• Building and maintaining staff morale and meeting VyV targets
• Ensure contingency, performance management, development and training plans are in place for all key staff
• Responsible for neat housekeeping of the production area internally and externally (e.g. waste area, cooling area etc.)
• Manage the Sage production location and assist where required with stock takes.
• Ensure that MES is sufficient to support warehouse operations and develop plans to improve
• Responsible for ensuring satisfactory internal audit & RCM requirements for stock management
• Continuously review and improve processes as part of the Manufacturing Way

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Tertiary qualification in Production Management or related qualification
• Minimum of 5 (Five) years experience of which 2 (Two) years should have been on managerial level within a unionised environment.
• Previous experience in FMCG production environment.
• Operational experience in manufacturing systems.
