Postion Summary:
The Network Engineer is critical in ensuring continuous operations and providing support, implementation and management of SARAO’s organisational-wide network, including high-capacity science data and office networks, High-speed networks and inter-branch data connectivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, install, configure, change and maintain the SARAO networkInterface with external stakeholdersUpgrading Networks for Science and No-Science Data Management of Linux-based network services platforms (including virtualised environments)Perform network and IT security establishment and maintenance dutiesMonitor and maintain software?, hardware and peripheral device's and run tests on a regular basisAnalyse network performance and find ways of improvementSchedule upgrades and maintenance according to organisational service cadence and schedules, minimising interruptions to operations

Experience:

About The Employer:

The South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO) spearheads South Africa’s activities in the Square Kilometre Array Radio Telescope, commonly known as the SKA, in engineering, science and construction.
