About the position
Fullstack (. Net) developer
Duration: 12 months (8 hours per day, 4/5 days per week)
Location: Bellville, Cape Town
The University seeks a suitably qualified, experienced, and competent contract resource (.Net Developer) to support the Information Communication Services (ICS) Department in delivering this strategically important institutional project.
4.3.5 The resource must be based (live) in Cape Town.
4.3.6 The resource will report to the ICS Project Management Office for the duration of the project.
4.3.7 The resource must be fully dedicated to the university's engagement and may not be assigned to any other client projects for the duration of the contract.
Responsible for developing, maintaining solutions in a collaborative environment. Candidate will work with a team of developers, analysts and business resources to build high-performance enterprise systems.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the planning, requirements gathering, deployment and rollout of enterprise-wide systems
- Collaborate with system analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives
- Conduction system analysis and compile and / or assist in the compilation of solutions design specifications
- Perform software development (Full Stack: backend and frontend) according to specifications
- Perform software unit and system testing of the enterprise system
- Perform troubleshooting of the enterprise systems
- Identify bugs and prepare fixes and enhancements to code
- Perform code reviews
- Test technical changes and coordinate the release of the change requests
- Assist in the planning and implementation of system changes to application
- Assist in the planning and management of Preventative Maintenance of the enterprise systems
- Perform system administration in regard to user access, user requirements and assess scope require for changes and enhancements to the system
Essential Technical Skills
- Strong experience in Full Stack .NET Development using ASP.NET Framework/.NET technologies.
- Proficiency in C#, ASP.NET Web Forms/MVC, and enterprise web application development.
- Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database design, stored procedures, and relational database management.
- Experience with Frontend Technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap, AJAX, and jQuery.
- Exposure to AngularJS or similar JavaScript frameworks.
- Experience using Visual Studio and Azure DevOps/Team Foundation Server (TFS) for source control and application lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud services and cloud-hosted applications.
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), unit testing, debugging, code reviews, and release management.
- Ability to collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Managers, and stakeholders to design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- National Diploma or bachelor's degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 2-3 years' experience as a Full Stack .NET Developer.
- Experience developing enterprise web applications within Microsoft technologies
