Experienced Technical Leader with a passion for manufacturing excellence, operational performance, and quality systems?
A well-established manufacturing organisation within the agricultural and production sector is seeking an experienced National Technical Manager to lead its technical operations across multiple manufacturing facilities in KwaZulu-Natal.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will provide strategic technical leadership across the value chain, ensuring product quality, manufacturing excellence, process optimisation, and compliance with industry standards. This role requires a commercially minded leader who can drive operational performance while developing high-performing technical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical strategy across multiple manufacturing operations.
- Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing performance, product quality, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement national technical standards and best practices.
- Oversee batching systems, process control, and production optimisation.
- Ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, and adherence to industry standards.
- Partner with Operations, Production, Quality, Procurement, and R&D teams to optimise manufacturing performance.
- Lead investigations into product quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data analytics and operational reporting.
- Provide technical leadership for manufacturing processes, raw material management, and production systems.
- Mentor and develop technical teams while building future technical capability across the business.
- Monitor manufacturing KPIs and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce costs.
Job Experience & Skills Required / Ideal Candidate Profile:
Education
- BSc in Animal Science, Agricultural Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification (MSc or equivalent) will be advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years' experience in a senior technical leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in feed milling or a related process manufacturing industry.
- Experience leading technical, quality, and production teams.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, process optimisation, and quality management.
