About the position
A well-known and established meat and food packaging and equipment manufacturing company requires the above to be responsible for managing, controlling, and optimising the entire stock holding across the company’s national operations. This includes monitoring stock movement and accuracy, reconciling inventory discrepancies, supporting procurement planning, and ensuring that production, sales, and logistics teams have the stock required to meet operational and customer demands.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- A tertiary qualification in either Supply Chain Management or Logistics or Operations Management, or a related field is essential for the role.
- Previous experience having worked within a stock or inventory management role, preferably in food manufacturing or packaging or related industries is preferred.
- Experience managing stock across multiple sites or branches is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of perishable inventory management, stock rotation, and warehouse operations is essential.
- Proficiency with ERP / inventory management systems (e.g. Syspro or SAP or a related ERP system is pref.)
- The successful candidate must have strong organisational and analytical skills.
- Must have attention to detail and accuracy in stock records and reporting with excellent problem-solving and process improvement abilities with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing, controlling, and optimising the entire stock holding across the company’s national operations. This includes monitoring stock movement and accuracy, reconciling inventory discrepancies, supporting procurement planning, and ensuring that production, sales, and logistics teams have the stock required to meet operational and customer demands.
- Reconciling, investigating, and adjusting approved stock variances.
- Assisting finance and procurement with stock queries relating to raw materials and final products.
- Managing stock holding for sales and branches.
- Ensuring all queries are resolved and cut off times are met before stocktaking.
- Conducting regular stock counts, reconciliations, and audits.
- Investigating stock discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
- Implementing stock rotation procedures (FIFO/LIFO) to reduce waste and spoilage, especially for perishable packaging materials.
- Generating daily, weekly, and monthly stock reports for management review.
- Analysing inventory trends, slow-moving items, and stock variances.
- Recommending process improvements to optimise stock control and reduce losses.
- Working closely with the quality Ensuring compliance with company stock handling policies, safety standards, and food packaging regulations.
