About the position
A well-established company specialising in the distribution of diagnostic laboratory equipment to laboratories requires the above to manage a team of product specialists servicing the life science industry to achieve national and divisional sales targets within the company.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- A degree or NQF 6 in life sciences or related is essential.
- Previous sales experience within the life science industry is essential.
- National and/or regional sales management experience would be advantageous.
- Computer literacy is essential with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Existing relationships with key opinion leaders is required.
- Must be fluent in English and Afrikaans.
- A relevant life science or medical technology qualification is essential for this role.
- A commercial qualification would be an advantage.
- Previous experience having worked at a senior sales management level within the clinical diagnostic, life science and POC industries is preferred.
- Previous experience required in sales analysis, performance management, strategy implementation, marketing and new business development is essential.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing regional sales managers, key account specialists and sales specialists on a national basis.
- Researching and benchmarking trends and developments within the poc, clinical diagnostics, and life science industry.
- Implementing, executing, and monitoring strategy to maximise sales potential.
- Leading assessment of sales strategies, development of goals and outputs and strategy implementation process.
- Performing environmental and scenario analysis and keeping the commercial manager informed about business activities, potential threats, opportunities, and recommended actions.
- Monitoring sales and expenditure and monitoring performance against performance goals and ensure that progress is being made and collective action is taken when necessary.
- Compiling regional budgets, forecasts and 5-year strategic business plans.
- Leading the sales team in promoting the product portfolio to existing and new customers.
- Managing and developing new business by implementing marketing strategies towards achieving and exceeding growth targets, as well as managing the implementation of tactical plans to realise new growth opportunities.
- Achieving and exceeding sales and GP budgets within territories, relevant customer accounts and product budgets.
- Managing and monitoring the implementation of total territorial coverage by each individual product specialist.
- Ensuring in-field accompaniment of product specialists and providing support with respect to product and sales knowledge.
- Interacting with key opinion leaders and stakeholders in line with business values and the code of ethics.
- Effectively following up and concluding long-term high value projects.
