About the position
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Motorcycle Mechanic for our rent-to-own motorcycle fleet and rider base in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing, repair, and maintenance of the motorcycle fleet, ensuring all vehicles remain safe, reliable, and roadworthy. This role requires a technically strong individual with solid mechanical experience, a practical, problem-solving mindset, and a genuine passion for motorcycles. The mechanic will play a key role in keeping bikes on the road by diagnosing faults accurately, completing efficient repairs, and maintaining high workshop standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, quality driven, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where turnaround time and reliability is critical. Strong accountability, a proactive approach, and the ability to work independently are essential for this role.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on various motorcycle models
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and implement appropriate repair solutions
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections and quality checks
- Assemble and disassemble motorcycle components as required
- Replace worn or damaged parts and ensure proper functionality after repairs
- Maintain accurate service records
- Ensure workshop cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety protocols
- Liaise with various stakeholders when required to explain repairs or findings
- Support overall workshop efficiency and meet turnaround time expectations
Core Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude with in-depth knowledge of motorcycle systems (engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems)
- Proven ability to diagnose faults accurately and efficiently
- Experience with routine servicing, repairs, and performance tuning
- Understanding of diagnostic tools and workshop equipment
- Solid knowledge of safety standards and compliance requirements
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Time management and ability to work under pressure
- Customer-focused approach with clear communication skills
