About the position
Our Client in the mining sector is seeking a Specialist Engineer with strong experience in mine ventilation and large scale fan systems.
This role focuses on developing technically sound ventilation solutions, preparing competitive tenders and supporting customers through the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will combine engineering capability with commercial awareness in a mining environment.
Candidates must have proven experience in underground mine ventilation and large scale industrial fan systems. HVAC background alone will not be sufficient.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree or BTech in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3 years experience within a mining or heavy industrial environment
- Proven experience in mine ventilation engineering
- Strong understanding of large scale industrial fan systems
- Experience preparing technical tenders
- Working knowledge of NEC and FIDIC contracts
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and airflow or CFD studies
- Proficiency in MS Office and CAD tools
The Role:
Engineering and Technical Solutions
- Design and develop mine ventilation and fan system solutions based on customer requirements
- Perform fan selections and develop performance data suitable for client specifications
- Interpret engineering drawings and airflow studies
- Prepare structured technical proposals and cost aligned solutions
Tender and Commercial Support
- Manage opportunities from enquiry through to submission
- Prepare technical documentation and scope definitions
- Contribute to budgeting and execution planning
- Apply knowledge of standard construction and engineering contract frameworks including NEC and FIDIC
Project and Engineering Support
- Support engineering teams during bid and execution phases
- Participate in collaborative design reviews
- When required, coordinate project elements to ensure timely delivery
Client Engagement
- Engage with mining customers, consulting engineers and project teams
- Provide value adding technical input during planning and execution stages
This role is suited to an engineer who understands underground ventilation requirements and enjoys combining technical design with commercial engagement.
