About the position
Our client based in Germiston is seeking a Millwright to join their team. Responsible to monitor the departmental compliance to HSE cardinal rules and re-enforcement of department’s safety
culture.
SUMMARY OF DESCRIPTION:
- Health and Safety responsibilities.
- Responsible to monitor the departmental compliance to HSE cardinal rules and re-enforcement of department’s safety culture.
- Ensure implementation of the set SOPs
- Report USACs, near misses, incidents and injuries to the Line Manager and SHEQ.
- Inspect all safety devices as per PM schedules and keep record (E/Stops, speed monitors, rope switches, Castell key units, etc)
- Adhere to LOTO procedure prior to commencing work on any equipment.
- Ensure risk assessment processes and inspections are followed and reviewed prior to the commencement of shift.
- Work in close relation to the SHEQ officer for safety measures.
- Ensure the departmental baseline risk assessment recommendations are followed and implemented.
Performance responsibilities:
- Ensure all safety devices are checked on a regular basis with proper record keeping (E/Stops, speed monitors, rope switches, Castell key units, etc).
- Ensure maintenance of lighting for compliance with legal illumination requirements in the plant, and offices by conduct regular maintenance to replace faulty or flickering lights.
- Implement the 5s principle in area of responsibility.
- Perform lubricating maintenance, cleaning activities, and repair of tools, machines, and equipment.
- In real-time attend to breakdowns, and installations on the plant and off site (admixture site).
- Clean strainers and inspect flexible piping for wear and blockages, and check tanks condition off site (admixture o site).
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance functions.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot on vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot pumps, fans, bearings, and conveyance systems.
- Plant equipment integrity and functionality at 97% for the electrical function.
- Ensure all weighing equipment’s are calibrated.
- Ensure daily equipment inspections are conducted and reported on the same day.
- Contribute to the planning of maintenance and repairs (including shutdowns).
- Spare parts management – complete issue slips for spare-parts used for machine repairs.
- Inspection and service of process equipment, laboratory, and office spaces, and utilities such as generators, transformers, etc…
- Conduct RCA for equipment failures and ensure actions are closed in Realtime.
- Performs any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the line manager.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Trade Test Millwright/Electrical or any related qualification
- Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in a manufacturing setup
- Basic Management skills / Supervisory skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Basic Computer Literacy
- Competency in Root Cause Analysis methodologies
