About the position

Introduction

To provide support to the Engineering department, Production Department and overall organisation in relation to maintenance and artistry of machinery and heavy-duty equipment by means of completing preventative maintenance as well as reactive maintenance, and providing and applying expertise and insight into effective and efficient manufacturing

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform planned and unplanned Maintenance on all plant equipment.
• Mechanical and electrical fault finding.
• Compliance to Health and Safety in general.
• Full compliance to Quality related and Food Safety policies, regulations and procedures.
• Maintenance and service of any plant equipment including Ammonia Plant, Boiler and other utility related services.
• To be fully available to assist the plant with callouts and to be on stand-by, when required.
• Electrical and mechanical refurbishment of machines.
• Full involvement in the dismantle or disassembling of machinery and equipment in and out of the Production Area.
• Full involvement in the movement, assembling and installation of machinery and equipment in and out of the Production Area.
• Application of reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Assist and support full system process by drafting and/ or improving current Standard Operating Procedures for Machinery and Equipment.
• Support the Training and Development department in the assessment and training of machine operators.
• Assist with Ladder, Power tool, Safety Harness, Hand tool and Store related monthly/ Quarterly checklists.
• Support the Health and Safety Department with incident investigations and risk assessment recommendations and content, when required.
• Assist with a basic level of TIG and MIG welding onsite and ensure safety protocols in relation to that are adhered to.
• Supporting the Preventative Maintenance Program by achieving at least 80% of allocated job tasks.
• Assist in the repair of Machinery and Equipment.
• Assist and Support in the effective and efficient operation of utilities.
• Ensure strict adherence to housekeeping and lock-out protocol when working on any machine.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Grade 12/ Matric
• Millwright Trade Test with all completed N levels
• Additional Refrigeration and/ or Electrical qualifications will be advantageous
• Minimum of 5 (Five) year experience, working as a Millwright working on FMCG machinery in a Manufacturing Environment.
• Electrical Orientated will be advantageous
• Meat Trade Industry experience will be advantageous
