Medical Dispatcher

About the position

Description/Synopsis:
Our client, a fast-paced emergency medical service provider, is looking for a capable and calm Medical Dispatcher. This person will coordinate ambulance dispatches in real time, communicate with emergency personnel, and ensure timely arrival at appropriate hospitals or facilities. Knowledge of medical terminology, local hospitals, and the urgency of EMS operations is critical. Due to the nature of the role shift work required.

Minimum Requirements:

• Prior experience in dispatch or call coordination in a medical/emergency setting
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology
• Familiarity with local hospitals and emergency care locations
• Ability to manage high-pressure situations and make fast decisions
• Excellent verbal communication and multitasking skills
• Willingness to work shifts, including nights/weekends

Responsibilities:

• Receive and prioritise emergency calls and coordinate ambulance dispatch
• Use dispatch systems and GPS to track vehicle location and ETA
• Communicate clearly with EMTs, hospitals, and internal teams
• Document dispatch activity and relevant case notes
• Monitor response times and escalate delays if needed
• Provide calm, reassuring instructions to callers in distress
