About the position
Description / Synopsis
We are seeking a Medical Dispatcher to join a busy emergency response environment. This role suits someone who communicates clearly, stays calm under pressure, and understands basic medical operations. You will handle incoming emergency calls, assess the situation, and dispatch the correct level of medical care. The role includes contacting hospitals, coordinating ambulance movements, and ensuring accurate information is shared throughout the process. Shifts apply.
Minimum Requirements
- 3 years + Experience in EMS dispatching
- Operational medical knowledge
- Understanding of ambulance levels of care
- Clear communication and strong phone etiquette
- Good geographic awareness of Gauteng and surrounding regions
- Ability to work shifts
Responsibilities
- Answer emergency calls from medical aids and the public
- Assess the nature of the emergency and determine the correct response
- Dispatch ambulances and medical teams
- Contact hospitals to confirm patient acceptance
- Maintain accurate call and dispatch records
- Communicate clearly and professionally at all times
