About the position
We are seeking a motivated and driven Mechatronics Engineer Intern to join our Engineering team. This role involves working in a cross-functional, project-focused environment, supporting automation, production systems, machine upgrades, and digital engineering solutions within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engineering projects from concept through to implementation
- Develop and integrate automation systems (PLC, HMI, motion control, vision systems, SCADA, server-side and front-end systems, data and analytics)
- Assist with machine builds and upgrades (electrical, mechanical, and control systems)
- Troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues and implement long-term solutions
- Support reliability and predictive maintenance projects
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and project reports
- Apply engineering standards and equipment data models
- Work collaboratively across departments
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Quality, GMP, and Food Safety standards
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics Engineering (preferred)
- Related Engineering Degree with cross-disciplinary capability will be considered
- Diploma in Mechatronics with strong technical capability may be considered
- 1–2 years relevant experience (advantageous)
