About the position

Job Purpose:
To assess, validate and process mechanical warranty claims in accordance with the company's policy terms and conditions, ensuring fair and efficient claim outcomes for both the business and its customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, review and assess warranty claims submitted by clients.
  • Interpret and apply the terms and conditions of mechanical warranty policies to determine claim validity.
  • Liaise with clients, service providers, and internal departments to gather necessary technical and documentation support for claim decisions.
  • Accurately determine the cause of failure, extent of damage, and authorise repairs within claim limits and policy coverage.
  • Verify service history, maintenance compliance, and any prior related claims.
  • Ensure claim decisions are well-documented, justified and communicated clearly to stakeholders.
  • Identify possible fraudulent claims and refer to the relevant department for investigation.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all claims processed.
  • Provide technical advice and support to colleagues within the claims department.
  • Contribute to process improvements and share technical insights to improve claims handling efficiency.

Minimum Requirements:
Education & Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
  • Relevant mechanical or automotive qualification (e.g., Trade Test as Motor Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic)
  • A claims handling or insurance-related qualification is advantageous

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in short-term insurance claims (mechanical warranties preferred)
  • Knowledge of mechanical warranty products and motor insurance policies

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic knowledge
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Customer-centric approach with sound conflict resolution skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and claims management systems
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple claims concurrently
