Mechanical Maintenance Specialist - Blow Moulding

About the position

Our client is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Specialist to join their team in Meyerton. This role plays a crucial part in supporting production processes by ensuring the operational availability and efficiency of both production and auxiliary equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with blow moulding machinery and must come from a bottle cap and cork manufacturing environment. The role involves relocating machinery from an existing site and ensuring they operate efficiently once the new operation becomes fully functional by September.

Responsibilities:

• Execute preventive, corrective, and emergency mechanical maintenance to minimize machine downtime.
  
  
• Perform fault diagnostics and mechanical repairs to restore production line functionality.
  
  
• Participate in the relocation, setup, and commissioning of production equipment.
  
  
• Ensure high production quality standards through regular maintenance and operational support.
  
  
• Maintain proper records of daily work in the company’s management system.
  
  
• Manage spare parts inventory and withdrawals effectively.
  
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical maintenance and operations.
  
  
• Propose and implement improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
  
  

Requirements:

• Proven experience in bottle cap and cork manufacturing – this is essential.
  
  
• Strong mechanical background with the ability to troubleshoot and run blow moulding machinery independently.
  
  
• Solid knowledge of production systems, mechanical components, and maintenance processes.
  
  
• Proficient in mechanical drawing and use of machine tools.
  
  
• Basic knowledge of industrial programming and regulatory compliance.
  
  
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  
  
• Technical qualification in mechanical or mechatronic fields.
  
  
• Strong soft skills including time management, communication, decision-making, and stress resilience.
