Role Introduction
Mechanical Engineer to take responsibility for the design, execution, and management of mechanical engineering projects. The successful candidate will report to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and play a key role in leading design initiatives, managing budgets, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring project delivery within scope, cost, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of piping, pumps, structural, and plant component systems.
- Develop and review detailed mechanical designs, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Perform advanced analysis including CFD modelling and validation of engineering models.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and the drawing office.
- Manage project budgets for equipment and materials against approved proposals.
- Oversee prototype development and testing were required.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and safety regulations.
- Manage quality control processes and oversee quality data packs for all projects.
- Liaise with internal departments, suppliers, contractors, and clients.
- Attend client meetings, provide technical input, and present project updates.
- Analyze operational data and compile detailed engineering reports.
- Support commissioning activities and provide technical troubleshooting on-site, including underground work where required.
- Ensure full compliance with the SHEQ Integrated Management System (IMS).

Qualifications
- BEng / BTech / BSc Mechanical Engineering (Completed)
Minimum Requirements
- 4 - 8 years' proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer within mining, water treatment, or OEM environments
- Strong design experience in plant, piping, and structural systems
- Own vehicle with valid driver's license
- Willingness to travel and work underground when required
- South African citizen with valid SA ID
- Advanced computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office, relevant engineering design software)
