About the position
Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer with a strong interest in design and experience within the Heavy Engineering, Offshore, Oil & Gas, or Subsea industries. The successful candidate will be responsible for both engineering design and project execution.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualification: Minimum of a BEng/BSc Mechanical Engineering degree.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in a mid-level engineering role.
- Industry Experience: Proven experience in the Heavy Engineering, Offshore, Oil & Gas, or Subsea sectors.
- Design: A strong interest and demonstrated ability in mechanical design is essential.
- Software: Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD is required.
Key Responsibilities
Approximately 70% of the role will focus on engineering design and development, including:
- In-house mechanical design and product development.
- Performing strength calculations from first principles, as well as FEA/Simulation where required.
- 3D CAD modelling and technical drawing using SolidWorks.
- Preparing comprehensive manufacturing data packs, including:
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Quality Control Plans (QCPs)
- Work Instructions
- Technical Manuals
- Managing and liaising with vendors throughout the fabrication process.
Approximately 30% of the role will involve project management, including:
- Managing projects from inception through to delivery across Service, Repair, Manufacturing, Design, CEM and Product-related projects.
- Preparing quotations and overseeing project execution.
- Procurement and logistics coordination.
- Resource planning and scheduling.
- Project reporting, inspection report review and disposition.
- Data book preparation and submission.
- Oversight of manufacturing, quality control and final project closeout.
