About the position
Our client is seeking an experienced and professionally registered Mechanical Engineer to join their Cape Town team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer with proven building services design experience who can lead projects, mentor junior staff, and manage multiple projects independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects from design through to completion
- Provide technical and design leadership to deliver innovative and practical engineering solutions
- Independently manage multiple projects while working closely with senior management
- Oversee project quality, compliance, budgets, and programme requirements
- Design and coordinate air-conditioning and ventilation, wet services, and fire-fighting systems
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and support their professional development
- Attend project sites and client meetings as required
Requirements:
- BTech, BEng, or BSc in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 8 years' project design and site experience in mechanical engineering
- Proven building services design experience, including HVAC, wet services, and fire-fighting systems
- Professionally registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer
- Expert proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering design activities from project inception to completion
- Proven experience managing multiple projects independently
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work effectively under deadlines
- Valid driver's licence; own vehicle will be advantageous
- Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings
