Mechanical Engineer

About the position

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with around 5 - 10 years experience in the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical industries to join a multidisciplinary consulting team, contributing to the design, analysis, and execution of complex projects within the petrochemical sector.  The position is based in Durban.
Requirements:

• BSc. / BEng. / BTech. Mechanical Engineering degree
• 5 - 10 years experience 
• Strong oil and gas engineering design and project management skills
• Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA (an advantage)

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure that mechanical engineering tasks on assigned projects are completed within the allocated manhours and approved timelines, adhering to project procedures, standards, and specifications.
• Carry out design work as required by the Lead Project Engineer
• Advise HOD / Lead Engineer of possible fields for technical investigations 
• Carry out technical investigations, including development of computer programs and produce technical reports when required.
• Conduct plant audits and manage the design component of engineering studies.
• Provide mechanical expertise for troubleshooting and operations optimization.
• Efficient and accurate design of oil and gas piping systems, pump selection, fire fighting design, etc. 
• Sign off on concept/basic/detail mechanical designs produced for complex projects 
• Support a team of engineers, technicians and draughtspeople to accomplish the above within the agreed time frame, costs and quality
