About the position
Our client is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to join their Infrastructure team in Cape Town. This permanent position offers the opportunity to lead mechanical engineering design, project delivery, construction monitoring and quality assurance across a range of projects throughout South Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical building services using relevant engineering software.
- Coordinate mechanical services with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Prepare and review design and construction documentation, drawings, technical reports and data analyses.
- Conduct construction monitoring, inspections and compliance audits.
- Perform factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning and construction quality assessments.
- Review construction progress, payment measurements and certificates.
- Implement and manage quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Manage projects in accordance with required quality, programme and cost objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and line management to the mechanical engineering team.
- Engage professionally with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders.
Requirements:
- BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional registration with ECSA.
- 8+ years' mechanical engineering experience within the building services environment.
- Strong experience in HVAC and wet services.
- Sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and legislation, particularly those relating to project safety.
- Strong design, analytical, problem-solving and project delivery capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel to project sites throughout South Africa.
- Valid driver's licence.
- A Master's degree will be advantageous.
- Experience in fire protection, vertical transportation, refrigeration, piped gas services, building management systems, industrial mechanical services or project management will be advantageous.
