About the position
Our client within the automation steel and wheel industry is seeking a mechanical draughtsman/woman. Candidates with professional draughting experience within the manufacturing industry, as well as a National Diploma/equivalent certification in Mechanical draughting or related fields will be considered for the role. CAM software experience and knowledge of CNC-machining equipment, programming and capabilities would be advantageous.
Produce accurate, detailed technical drawings and related deliverables to support the design, development, and manufacture of product components, assemblies, tooling, and equipment used for production. Maintain ongoing product manufacturing data management and ensure that all drawings and deliverables used for production meet industry and company standards.
Skills and competencies:
- Proficient in CAD software (preferably SolidEdge).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Awareness of the ISO standards for Mechanical drawings/draughting
- Awareness of the importance of quality standards in the manufacturing industry.
- Acute understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of change management and revision control disciplines.
- Strong technical communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.
- Technical problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of the below manufacturing processes:
- Press/draw-forming,
- Injection-Moulding,
- CNC machining,
- Metal fabrication
- Basic understanding of steel and plastic engineering materials.
- Basic understanding of mechanical principles.
- Organisation and time management skills to meet task/project-specific deadlines. - Accountability and independent thinking regarding assigned projects and tasks.
