About the position
Our client, a well-established company in the engineering and manufacturing sector, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Draftsman to join their team on a 6-month contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate technical drawings and 3D models of mechanical equipment, components, and fabricated structures while supporting workshop, engineering, sales, and site operations.
Minimum Requirements:
- National Diploma (N6) or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Mechanical Drafting role
- Proficient in Autodesk Inventor
- Experience producing GA Drawings, Fabrication Drawings, Assembly Drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Sound understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes
- Valid driver's licence
- Willingness to travel to client and project sites
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using Autodesk Inventor
- Generate General Arrangement (GA), fabrication, assembly, installation, section, and exploded-view drawings
- Conduct site visits and take accurate measurements of equipment, components, and structures
- Utilize 3D scanning equipment to capture and verify dimensional data
- Interpret engineering concepts, sketches, and technical specifications
- Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Ensure drawings comply with company standards and industry requirements
- Apply correct dimensions, tolerances, welding symbols, and material specifications
- Liaise with Workshop, Engineering, Sales, and Site teams to ensure accurate and fabrication-ready designs
- Maintain drawing registers, revision records, and project documentation
- Provide technical support during manufacturing, assembly, and installation activities
- Assist with quality assurance and drawing verification processes
