About the position

  • Model components and assemblies in SolidWorks and keep design data up to date.
  • Produce clear, workshop-ready GA and manufacturing drawings for fabrication and assembly.
  • Compile BOMs and issue drawing packs to support production and procurement.
  • Detail parts for real-world manufacturing (weldments, platework, machining, tolerances, fits).
  • Support spares and breakdown work through updates, modifications, and reverse engineering.
  • Coordinate with engineering and workshop teams to ensure designs are buildable and accurate.
  • Work under ISO 9001 controls (revisions, traceability, documentation).

  • Report progress and priorities to the Technical Manager

  • Relevant Mechanical Draughting / Design qualification (or equivalent).

  • 5+ years of experience in draughting/design within mining, heavy engineering, OEM, or materials handling.
  • Strong SolidWorks skills (3D modelling, assemblies, detailing).
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D).
  • Practical understanding of fabrication and machining processes.
  • Mining equipment exposure (especially underground coal) is highly beneficial.If you've worked with mining machinery and spares and enjoy producing drawings that the workshop can build from first time, we'd like to hear from you.

About The Employer:

Our client, a well-established engineering business supplying equipment and replacement spares to the mining sector, is seeking a Mechanical / Design Draughtsman. You'll produce accurate 3D models and manufacturing drawings for equipment and components used on machinery such as feeder breakers, plant feeders, reclaim feeders, mineral sizers, shuttle cars, and related materials-handling systems (including conveyors).

This role suits someone who comes from a mining OEM, mining services, or heavy engineering environment and understands how to draw for fabrication, fitment, and maintenance.
