Mechanical Discipline Lead - Building Services

About the position

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Discipline Lead to head up their mechanical engineering team from their Randburg office. This permanent opportunity is suited to a professionally registered engineer with strong building services expertise and a proven track record in design, project delivery, quality control and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team, providing technical direction and line management.
• Deliver mechanical building services designs using relevant engineering software.
• Coordinate mechanical engineering services with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Prepare and review design and construction documentation, including drawings, technical reports and data analyses.
• Monitor construction activities and conduct technical inspections and compliance audits.
• Verify construction work against specifications, standards and approved designs.
• Review construction payment measurements and certificates.
• Participate in factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning and related project activities.
• Implement and manage quality assurance and quality control procedures.
• Manage project deliverables in accordance with agreed quality, programme and cost requirements.
• Engage effectively with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary stakeholders.

Requirements:

• BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Professionally registered with ECSA (PrEng).
• 8+ years' post-registration experience in mechanical engineering.
• Proven experience within the building services environment, particularly HVAC and wet services.
• Sound knowledge and practical application of relevant local and international standards and legislation.
• Strong understanding of project safety requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and work effectively in multidisciplinary environments.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Master's degree will be advantageous.
