Mechanical Designer

About the position

Our client in the mining and mineral processing industry, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Designer to join their dynamic engineering team (Contract role). This role focuses on the delivery of detailed mechanical design and 3D modelling for complex conveyor and bulk material handling systems. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of the mining EPCM environment, will be responsible for producing high-quality, clash-free designs that comply with stringent client specifications, international standards, and demanding project schedules. This role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including structural, civil, electrical, and controls engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for conveyor systems and associated equipment.
• Design components including, Head & tail pulleys, chutes, Conveyor structure, Drive stations, Belt feeders
• Produce, GA drawings, Fabrication, Assembly and Isometric drawings
• Perform equipment layout and clash detection.
• Ensure compliance with, Client standards, Mining safety regulations, EPCM engineering procedures
• Coordinate with, Structural, Civil, electrical & Controls teams
• Participate in design reviews and model reviews.
• Support procurement with technical clarifications.
• Incorporate vendor data into models and drawings.
• Experience working in a fast-paced EPCM environment.

Requirements:

• National Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in conveyor design within mining EPCM projects.
• Strong experience in bulk materials handling, long overland conveyors.
• Proficient in: AutoCAD, Inventor / SolidWorks, Plant 3D.
• Strong understanding of Conveyor calculations.
