Location: Heidelberg,Gauteng
Purpose of Role: To produce technical drawings based on the specifications as per the customer/contract requirements. Close interaction with project technicians and engineers, printing and issuing drawings to successfully deliver effective and timely document distribution as well as maintain a functional archiving system. Assist with general drawings, office filing in relation to monthly reports, parts lists etc. Ensure all drawings and related documentation is controlled in a meticulous and orderly fashion in line with company policies and procedures, essentially contributing to the success of the business unit, in line with the objectives of the company.
Requirements:
- National Diploma Mechanical Engineering/ Draughtsman Diploma or Certificate.
- 5 years’ experience in a similar role/ pump manufacturing or maintenance
- Understanding of machining and geometric tolerance
- Mechanical, structural, plant and pump station exposure
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective filing and archiving systems
- General understanding of engineering specifications and codes
- General understanding of draughting principals
- Strong Computer Literacy
- CAD / Auto CAD / Inventor 3D - packages or similar
Responsibilities:
- Do basic design calculations and selections pertaining to pump sets, base plates and auxiliaries
- Detailed component design including material properties, clearances, machining and tolerance, weld maps and writing of technical/ engineering procedures when required
- To create customer related drawings, eg. general arrangements, structural baseplates, piping and sectional drawings
- Pump station, piping, system layout and design
- Redraw and create 3D models and assemblies based on 2D drawings
- Create new or rework drawings based on a changing engineering environment
- Update current drawings if and when new revisions are required
- Maintain the drawing office systems and procedures
- Liaise with other departments, eg. Sales, Projects, Workshops, etc.
- Comply with and enforce all company policies and procedures
- Assist fellow employees with daily functions as and when required
- Carry out all other reasonable tasks that may be delegated from time to time
