About the position
Our Manufacturing client based in Centurion is seeking a Material Controller. The Material Controller will manage and track materials throughout the manufacturing operation to ensure optimal stock levels, accurate records, and efficient production support. A key part of this role is utilizing software tools-particularly Pastel-for material tracking, inventory control, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and control material stock levels to support uninterrupted production.
- Manage goods receiving and issue processes, ensuring materials are accurately captured in Pastel.
- Maintain and update inventory records in Pastel, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
- Coordinate with procurement, production, and suppliers to align material availability with production schedules.
- Conduct regular stock takes and cycle counts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Generate stock movement and usage reports using Pastel and Excel.
- Ensure proper material storage, labelling, and handling according to safety and quality standards.
- Assist in identifying slow-moving or obsolete stock items and recommend actions.
- Support internal audits and ensure compliance with inventory policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a material control or inventory management role (in a manufacturing environment).
- Proficient in Pastel accounting/inventory software-able to navigate modules related to inventory, suppliers, and stock movement.
- Strong computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, basic reporting).
- Experience in mechanical component or industrial product manufacturing. (Advantage)
- Forklift license or material handling certification. (Advantage)
- Knowledge of lean or continuous improvement practices. (Advantage)
