About the position
PURPOSE
The Marketing Manager will lead the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies to drive brand awareness, corporate identity, customer acquisition, engagement, revenue growth, and market share. This role combines strategic leadership, hands-on campaign management, team coordination, and strong analytical skills in a data-rich, digital-first environment.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or related field (postgraduate qualification advantageous)
EXPERIENCE
- 5–8+ years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial/leadership role
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful integrated marketing campaigns with measurable results
- Strong experience in digital marketing (paid social, Google Ads, SEO, email marketing, content marketing)
- Proven experience with FMCG, stationery, retail, wholesale or manufacturing sectors (stationery industry experience highly advantageous)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement comprehensive annual and quarterly marketing strategies and plans aligned with company goals
- Lead multi-channel campaigns (digital, social, email, content, SEO/SEM, paid media, influencer, events, PR, traditional where relevant)
- Manage the marketing budget:
allocate spend,
track performance,
optimize for maximum ROI - Conduct market research, competitor analysis, customer segmentation, and trend monitoring to inform strategy
- Oversee brand positioning, messaging consistency, and visual identity across all touchpoints
- Collaborate closely with sales, product, buying, and finance teams to ensure integrated go-to-market execution
- Manage and develop a small-to-medium marketing team of up to six people
- Measure, report, and present campaign results, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership monthly/quarterly
- Stay ahead of marketing trends, emerging platforms, AI tools, privacy regulations, and local market dynamics (South Africa focus)

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strategic thinker with strong execution and project management abilities
- Excellent analytical skills – comfortable with data, dashboards, attribution modelling, Google Analytics 4, Meta Business Suite, etc.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (English fluency essential; additional SA languages advantageous)
- Leadership & people management – ability to inspire, coach, and develop a team
- Creative mindset balanced with commercial acumen and ROI focus
- Proficiency in marketing tools: HubSpot/Marketo/Salesforce, Canva/Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
- Up-to-date knowledge of digital trends, social platforms, AI in marketing, and data privacy (POPIA compliance)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
