About the position

Marketing & Business Development Manager
Sandton - Gauteng
Reporting to the Chief marketing officer - The incumbent must be trust worthy and proactive with experience in the Marketing, Business Development & Communications Industry as well as having leadership skills. It is expected that they will work on many projects at the same time, build and work within a diverse team formulating and executing strategies and to be able to coordinate with other managers.
Their responsibilities include overseeing the communication strategies, monitoring design content, and production of all material associated with the scope of work whilst ensuring that the quality of the works undertaken by us and that of our suppliers and partners are as required for the successful marketing campaign.
To be successful, the incumbent should have exceptional foresight, good communication skills, working knowledge of the Business.
The incumbent will have proof of their skills and have an appreciation for the complex nature of the Business.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Communication strategy - To develop, manage and implement manage the corporate communication strategy internally and externally, as well as develop plans and tactics, including the management of internal and external resources to ensure excellence in communication across the business in line with business goals and Vision. Component of which include:
  • Writes copy for company brochures/leaflets and presentation material
  • Provides input and implement initiatives aimed at developing and nurturing a single company culture as well as transparency.
  • Plans, develops and implements processes requisite to the publication of the monthly company newsletter the key objective of which is to promote the brand, disseminate messages about the company's progress and achievements in respect of current projects, create awareness of developments with subcontractors and communicate topical current affairs issues for the benefit of the company's employees.
  • Manage and coordinate the tracking and recording via audio-visual and photographic footage of Projects.
  • Ongoing management of the business's communication channels as per the agreed schedule, policy and within the agreed budget.
  • Maintain the company's website, ensuring that information/images are always up to date.
  • Maintain the company's intranet, ensuring that information/images are always up to date.
  • Develop new communication channels in line with the needs of the business.
  • Brand management - implement, monitor and manage the corporate identity/image/brand.
  • Keeps a record of the company's branding collateral.
  • Provides guidance to internal departments on the company's corporate image and identity.
  • Adhere to brand principles /customising of company's
  • brand as per divisional needs.
  • Correction of incorrect signage/creation of new signage as and when required
  • Media - Develop and implement a media strategy with the aim of restoring the company's image in the eyes of the public and the media.
  • Implement the company's media relations strategy.
  • Liaises with external agencies in respect of advertising and external marketing.
  • Prepare editorials for external publications
  • Function support - ensure that key departmental successes/requirements are brought to the attention of employees as and when required through the appropriate communications medium.
  • Event management - execute and deliver high quality company events and exhibitions that are aligned with the company's global image and brand on budget
  • Business Development - supports the Business Development activities for new Projects that the company provides solutions and products.

Authority:

  • To implement necessary actions throughout the organization to ensure that the Business objectives are met
  • To operate within the boundaries of the delegation given by the Chief Marketing Officer

Qualification, Competencies and Experience:

  • A minimum of B. Degree in Communications, Marketing and or Public Relations.
  • A postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in Corporate Communications and Business Development
  • Integrity and exceptional interpersonal skills to facilitate the development of strong relationships with internal & external stakeholders
  • Business acumen - awareness of trends and information that may affect the company
  • Independent thinker
  • Good research skills
  • Fluent in spoken / written English is essential
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Must be proficient in all MS Packages.
  • Must be willing to travel both locally and internationally

Performance Measurement:

  • Significant COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) issues are raised, and root-cause analysis / mitigation plans are implemented
  • Lessons learned from the Projects that are quality related are fed back into the Business
  • Business Quality KPI's
  • KPI's / Objectives set through the Business

Local requirements:

  • Ability to travel throughout sub Saharan Africa on a frequent basis
