About the position

Role Purpose

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of events to promote organisational initiatives, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and support regional economic development objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Coordination

  • Develop and implement comprehensive event plans aligned with organisational objectives
  • Coordinate logistics including venues, catering, audiovisual requirements, and transportation

Marketing & Promotion

  • Execute branding and marketing promotion plans for events
  • Identify marketing collateral requirements and manage stock registers

Event Execution & Evaluation

  • Oversee on-site event execution to ensure seamless delivery
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and compile feedback reports
  • Address operational challenges promptly to ensure a positive attendee experience

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage event budgets in line with financial policies
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and service providers
  • Identify cost-saving and revenue-enhancing opportunities

Governance & Stakeholder Management

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and permit requirements
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships

Leadership & People Management

  • Manage subordinate staff in line with performance management principles
  • Collaborate with other business units to ensure organisational alignment

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (NQF Level 7) in Event Management, Marketing, Business, or a related field
  • Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) will be an advantage

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in event planning and execution
  • Experience in a corporate or economic development environment preferred
  • 5 years' experience will be an added advantage

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Creativity and innovation in event execution
  • Vendor negotiation and budget management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
