About the position
An established multinational organisation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Managing Director to lead its South African operations, based in Sandton. This role carries full accountability for operational performance, financial management, and compliance with both local legislation and global corporate standards.
This role has a strong Financial Management responsibility and therefore requires someone with extensive Financial Management experience ideally backed by a relevant qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume full P&L responsibility, ensuring financial strength, operational efficiency, and strategic growth.
- Provide strong leadership and direction across Finance, HR, Supply Chain, IT, Legal, Procurement, and Administration.
- Ensure compliance with South African labour law, tax legislation, and corporate governance requirements, while aligning with international standards.
- Develop and implement business strategies and objectives in line with the global group and the local market environment.
- Establish and maintain sound relationships with financial institutions, auditors, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders.
- Report directly to the international head office, ensuring alignment with global objectives, policies, and reporting standards.
Candidate Profile
- CA(SA) qualification is highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline; a Master's degree is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years' senior leadership experience in a multinational or international organisation.
- Proven track record in financial and operational management within a B2B industry (manufacturing, packaging, or related sectors advantageous).
- Strong understanding of South African labour law and statutory compliance.
- Proficiency in SAP ERP systems and MS Office.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to drive business growth while maintaining operational excellence.
