About the position
Multinational company seeks a dynamic professional to oversee and manage all aspects of tax compliance, planning, tax accounting and reporting within the organization (for all taxes including Income Tax, Transfer Pricing, VAT, Carbon Tax, Customs & Excise, Sales based levies, PAYE)
The Manager Taxation will be responsible and accountable to oversee and manage all aspects of tax compliance, tax accounting and reporting, audit risk management and strategic projects over and end to end tax risk management cycle (for all taxes including Income Tax, Transfer Pricing, VAT, Carbon Tax, Customs & Excise, Sales based levies, PAYE).
You will be the primary liaison between external tax service providers and company leadership, playing a strategic role in tax strategy, compliance, and reporting.
Financial Reporting:
- Tax accrual process for the legal entities both for corporate income tax and transactional taxes (including current and deferred taxes).
- Prepare, calculate, and submit reports for monthly management reporting.
- Work with internal team to ensure accuracy of tax forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning strategies.
Tax Planning:
- Developing and implementing tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position and minimize tax liabilities while remaining compliant with all tax laws.
- Staying updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
- Conducting research on tax laws and regulations to identify opportunities for tax savings.
Audit Support:
- Manage tax audits and tax litigation, including negotiations with local tax authorities.
- Coordinating responses to audit requests and representing the company in discussions with auditors.
Customer Perspective:
- Providing guidance to management and other internal stakeholders on the tax implications of business decisions.
- Manage tax strategies and identify opportunities for tax optimization.
- Analysis and delivery of solutions for business developments, both locally and export market.
- Develop, implement and maintain tax reporting tools where required.
- Participate as a team member on the FIASA Indirect Tax forum and represent the views of the company.
Tax Risk Management:
- End-to-end tax management of assessable risk or uncertain tax positions (strategy & structuring, accounting & reporting, compliance, controversy & dispute resolution, transfer pricing, control framework).
- Monitoring changes in tax laws and regulations and advising management on potential impacts to the company.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensuring compliance with tax laws, all applicable tax regulations and filing requirements.
- Ensure that all tax related process is in line with UKCR requirements.
People Management:
- Ensure effective use of external advisers - in terms of quality and cost.
- Lead a team of tax employees, providing guidance, support and professional development opportunities.
Professional Qualification and Certifications:
- CA(SA) qualification or Law degree
- A master's degree in taxation or a related discipline is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and tax laws.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years' related experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role within a large corporate organization.
- In-depth knowledge of corporation and international tax law and transactional tax concepts and its practical applications.
- Strong, established working relationship with SARS
- Experience in managing Income tax (specifically in a manufacturing environment), VAT, Payroll taxes, Customs and Excise taxes.
- Strong experience in managing tax audits, liaising with SARS, and handling tax disputes.

- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including ability to motivate a team, foster collaboration and drive results.
