Role Summary
We are looking for a strong, hands-on Manager Perishables to take full responsibility for the performance of the Perishables Department within our retail store.
This role requires a results-driven leader who understands fresh food retail, stock flow, shrinkage control, and delivering an excellent customer shopping experience.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12
3-4 years' experience in a food retail/perishables environment
Proven experience managing a team within a retail store
Strong understanding of stock control, shrinkage, and departmental profitability

Key Responsibilities

Drive department turnover and achieve sales targets
Control shrinkage, wastage, and stock losses
Ensure accurate ordering and optimal stock levels
Maintain strict cold chain, hygiene, and food safety standards
Ensure department is fully trade-ready before store opening
Execute promotions in line with the promotional calendar
Maintain strong merchandising and display standards
Monitor stock rotation and product quality
Manage and develop team members to deliver operational excellence
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and systems (SAP, stock processing, waste control)
