Duties & Responsibilities
Merchandising Management
Executes planograms and merchandising standards 100%.
Ensures products are handled, packed, and presented as per SOP.
Maintains stock availability and freshness, rotating and monitoring sell-by dates.
Identifies fast-moving items to optimize sales and margins.
Ensures trade readiness and cleanliness at all times.
Oversees promotional execution and compliance.
Communicates customer needs to Demand Planning.
Administration
Monitors waste, stock turnover, and budget performance.
Ensures SELs are accurate and visible.
Oversees equipment maintenance and general upkeep.
Systems
Conducts gap scans and manages out-of-stock/overstock issues.
Uses SAP for stock transfers, markdowns, and reporting.
Communicates with Demand Planning using reporting tools.
Processes waste and monitors electronic communication throughout the day.
Staff Management
Communicates priorities, sets targets, and delegates tasks.
Manages compliance with policies and procedures.
Shares updates from regional meetings and responds to queries.
Reviews and adjusts staff schedules using Kronos.
Customer Service
Handles customer queries and provides alternatives for out-of-stock items.
Ensures service standards and operational readiness.
Maintains working equipment and clean displays.
Food Safety & Hygiene
Maintains hygiene, housekeeping, and food safety standards.
Ensures stock rotation and sanitation procedures are followed.
Manages non-conformances through corrective actions.
Implements and monitors cleaning schedules.
Experience & Qualification
Matric Grade 12.
Experience / training in foods retail and management of resources.
3 years' experience in the Deli department
2 years as a Deli Supervisor advantageous
