About the position
We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our Finance team within a manufacturing / chemical processing environment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in cost management, inventory control, and financial reporting, providing accurate and timely financial information to support operational and strategic decision-making.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented finance professional with strong analytical skills and hands-on experience in a manufacturing or process-driven environment.
Financial Reporting & Month-End
- Process accurate journal entries relating to production, inventory, and cost of goods sold
- Assist with month-end reporting procedures and strict deadline adherence
- Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial records
cost Costing & Inventory Control
- Perform monthly reconciliations between the General Ledger (GL) and inventory subledger
- Investigate and resolve inventory and costing variances
- Analyse material, labour, overhead, and purchase price variances
- Review and verify Bill of Materials (BOM) recoveries to ensure accurate cost allocation
- Analyse non-conformance costs to identify root causes and cost-saving opportunities
- Calculate and prepare surplus stock provisions (including composites and non-conforming stock within the SA region)
- Coordinate and support quarterly stock counts across national sites and report on variances
Process & Data Integrity
- Review and approve new product code creation for the Composites division
- Review Goods Received Voucher (GRV) reports and ensure prompt correction of discrepancies
- Maintain accurate costing structures and master data
Standard Costing & Systems Improvement
- Take ownership of the standard costing model, including annual recalculation and BOM roll-ups
- Continuously refine standard costing for improved accuracy and predictive capability
- Identify opportunities for process automation and system improvements
- Support or lead the implementation or enhancement of the manufacturing module within the ERP system
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant BCom Degree in Accounting or Management Accounting
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role within a manufacturing, chemical, or process industry
- Strong exposure to inventory management, standard costing, and variance analysis
- ERP system experience within a manufacturing environment (advantageous)
