About the position
Job Description
The Management Accountant role functions to ensure the implementation and maintenance of efficient and effective financial systems and processes, responsible for oversight and management of accounts and book-keeping functions, cash flow controls, management accounts, statutory, compliance and audit requirements for a portfolio of property and/or management companies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of journal entries (e.g. prepayments, accruals)
- Review and Submission of monthly billings and invoicing
- Oversight and signing off of monthly bank reconciliations (oversight of cash books)
- Review of creditor reconciliations
- Review of debtor and creditor age analysis
- Other reconciliations/detailed analysis
- On-boarding of new properties onto the applicable accounting software (MDA / MRI, Xero, Dokka)
- Variance reporting - numbers and commentary (actuals, budget)
- Preparation and delivery of all management account reports, including income statement, balance sheet per building, and all budget and variance reports across properties and services timeously i.e. by the middle of the following month.
- Processing of payments
- Regional treasury function
- Implementing and overseeing internal control procedures
- Creating efficiencies through the implementation of automated processes and procedures
- Review of expense/cash book allocations (owner statements)
- Maintenance of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Year-end audit preparation
- Review of general ledger
- Review in budgeting/forecasting
- Intercompany loan reconciliations
- Ad hoc reporting
- Property Feasibilities / Due Diligences process
- Maintain & review reporting tools (PowerBI)
- Liaise with Finance providers on financial data
Requirements
Must be a South African Citizen
Must be willing to work onsite in Office
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CIMA either completed or in progress advantageous)
Minimum 4 years of accounting experience (property experience advantageous)
Experience with municipal utility accounting and operational property transactions
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations)
Experience with property finance systems (e.g. MDA, MRI, Xero)
