About the position

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assist in review operating expenditure and forecasts for Group and the operations to ensure alignment with business strategy.

  • Planning & Budgeting: Assist to develop and execute an operational finance forecast, budget and plan to support BU's Operational Finance forecast, budget and plan; in order to demonstrate efficiency and effectiveness in achieving business performance objectives as well as short and long term company business objectives.                                                 

  • Assist to review and communicate the analysis of KPIs, metrics and other key analytical data highlighting significant performance issues to senior management.                                                                                                                                          

  • Ensure compliance to the finance processes and capture related transactional data into the finance system.         

  • Ensure adherence to legislative and corporate governance compliance requirements to manage risk and consequences on non-compliance.                                                                                                                                                                          

  • Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the Operations Finance Function.                                                                                                                                                                               

  • Ensure that all Operations Finance reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.                           

  • Ensure accurate reporting of financial data at Operation level for Petra and provision of information to enable effective decision making.                                                                                                                                                                                  

  • Prepare and distribute operating cost information as per agreed timelines.                                                                     

  • Assist with governance for operating expenditure through workflow.                                                                                

  • Design operating cost reports for Group Operation Finance and any other stakeholders.                                            

  • Analyses and interprets variance, budget and cost reports, in order to evaluate actual performance against plans and the effects of external factors on cost.                                                                                                                                                 

  • Support with the design and implementation of a cost and enterprise management system to manage and control operating costs for Group and the operations as well as recharges to mines.                                                                                             

  • Execute Accounting processes timely and effectively, ensuring operational discipline and strict adherence to internal accounting guidelines and controls.                                                                                                                                                      

  • Assist to evaluate and review current operational expenditure policies and procedures, amend if required and ensure compliance.

  • Request updates to Finance and other Master Data as required.                                                                                      

  • Support and provide guidance in achieving period end close process according to set metrics.                                 

  • Assist with the preparation for external audit.                                                                                                                 

  • Facilitate the OH&SS Pipeline ideas on BI software, ensuring all ideas generated are processed and maintained effectively and timely.                                                                                                                                                                                    

  • Co-ordinate, schedule and guide monthly meetings with all OH&SS idea owners and the CI Manager ensuring all Business Improvement ideas are monitored and reviewed, implementing next steps if and where required.                             

  • Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Vision, Values and Code of Ethical Conduct.

  • Monitor alignment of costing structures across operations to support Benchmarking as and when required.
