About the position
To oversee factory maintenance operations and resources, ensuring production targets are met, product quality standards are maintained, and operations run safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Operations & Control (55%)
- Execute reactive, predictive, and preventative maintenance on all plant, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Coordinate first-line maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Manage job cards and work permits for all maintenance work, escalating as required.
- Lead fault analysis and root cause investigations on equipment failures.
- Ensure safety and housekeeping standards are maintained across equipment and work areas.
Compliance (15%)
- Operate within company controls and procedures to maintain operational integrity.
- Identify and report risks, ensuring adherence to regulations and financial guidelines.
- Enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (SHE) standards.
Customer Service (10%)
- Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Resolve issues promptly and professionally, ensuring minimal operational disruptions.
Staff Supervision (10%)
- Monitor team performance, conduct appraisals, and manage development plans.
- Ensure all employees have signed performance agreements and receive ongoing training.
- Address employee relations matters fairly and promptly.
Cost & Financial Control (10%)
- Assist in budget preparation and monitor expenditure.
- Promote efficient use of financial and operational resources.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and optimize maintenance operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum:
- Certificate in a technical or maintenance-related discipline (NQF 5).
- Trade Test (NQF 5).
- Certificate in First Line Management (FLMP) (NQF 5).
- Up to 5 years' experience in maintenance operations within a manufacturing environment, with 1-2 years at a supervisory level.
- Experience working shifts (up to 3 years).
Advantageous:
- Diploma in technical or maintenance-related discipline (NQF 6).
Technical Competencies:
- Computer literacy (MS Office Suite, SAP, ERP, and other relevant software).
- In-depth knowledge of maintenance practices and processes.
- Understanding of compliance with legislation, safety, and manufacturing regulations.
