Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor Purpose of the Role Key Responsibilities Reporting Lines Minimum Requirements
Location: Atlantis
Contract Type: Permanent (6-month probation)
Salary: R55,000/month
Benefits: 7.5% provident fund contribution
Supervise and lead the maintenance team to ensure plant equipment and facilities in a heavy engineering environment operate efficiently. Focus areas include preventive and corrective maintenance, breakdown response, team leadership, and safety compliance.
Plan and execute preventative maintenance using SAP or CMMS
Allocate resources and manage daily maintenance tasks and schedules
Conduct routine inspections and oversee condition monitoring
Coordinate rapid response to equipment breakdowns
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
Lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
Monitor KPIs such as MTTR, MTBF, uptime, and downtime
Coach and develop maintenance team members
Manage contractors and service providers
Reports to Maintenance Manager
Supervises:
Senior Artisans
Electricians and Fitters
Semi-skilled staff
Apprentices
Collaborates with:
Production, Engineering, H&S, and IMS teams
External contractors, inspectors, and auditors
Trade Tested Millwright qualification
Minimum 5 years' experience in maintenance supervision
Strong background in both mechanical and electrical systems
Experience with PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and pressure vessels
Proficiency in SAP Maintenance Module or other CMMS
Technical and Soft Skills
Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and drawings
Strong diagnostic and planning skills
Excellent leadership and team management capabilities
Clear and effective communication skills
Highly organized, proactive, and compliance-oriented
Strong multitasking ability and attention to detail
Safety-focused with a hands-on leadership style
Desired Skills:
- Millwright qualification
- 5 years' experience in maintenance supervision
Desired Work Experience:
- 5 to 10 years
