About the position
Our client, a leading Manufacturing / Production company, based in Port Shepstone, is looking to fill the position of Maintenance Specialist.
Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Preventative Maintenance Manager, the successful incumbent will be responsible for defining methodology, manpower, spares, other resources and the work program necessary, in order to achieve efficient and safe maintenance in line with technical standards. Furthermore, to ensure the smooth operation of machinery and equipment, minimizing downtime and maximizing production.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Operations:
- Maintenance of the entire factory and mining, by ensuring safe operations and reliability as per company standards.
- Planning of weekly and major shutdown maintenance.
- Define the detailed methodology for carrying out all the maintenance activities according to priorities and the requires skills, resources, co-ordination and supervision.
- Coordinate and ensure that all spare parts and people skills to undertake planned operations and meet the required quantity and quality.
- Optimize resource utilization using capacity planning-to continuously review work backlog and optimize the utilization of plant resources using SAP capacity planning.
- Co-ordinate the gathering of equipment specification and bill of materials - to use systematic records and forward the equipment specification and bill of material so as to improve the use of SAP as a maintenance tool.
- Gather technical information monthly using the artisan's knowledge and SAP information on bills of material.
- Manage work order backlog - to prevent the reoccurrence of failures by identifying the root cause and finding solutions to eliminate the causes.
- Plan resources for plant outages - to determine plant constraints, establish job constraints by co-ordinating availability of resources, ensure adherence to specific operation priorities, review the priorities and planned work orders, and review work backlog to produce a detail plan schedule.
- Accumulate all plant maintenance orders, pertaining to the category's regular maintenance, condition-based maintenance, SHE orders, project orders, refurbishment orders that have been allocated to a revision, namely a planned outage date.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal prescriptions and constraints.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Company, statutory and legal requirements by studying and understanding requirements.
- Ensure compliance with SHEQ.
- Enforcing adherence to these compliance requirements.
- Advising management on any needed actions.
Team Work:
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric / Grade 12 with Mathematics.
- Minimum of SAQA Accredited N5 in an Electrical / Mechanical engineering discipline or recognised technical qualification for Engineering.
- 5 years' maintenance experience preferably in heavy engineering
- 5 years' experience on shut down planning and weekly plant maintenance planning.
- Fluent in English (reading and writing).
- Extremely good communications and organizing skills.
- Proficiency in SAP MRP System.
- Must be Computer Literate (Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook).
Advantageous:
- Recognised Trade test advantageous.
- Construction experience.
