Maintenance Fitter and Turner

About the position

Overview / Purpose of the job:

Maintain and improve mechanical machinery availability for production purposes. Ensure machinery conforms to general machinery regulations. Department: ENGINEERING VINYLS, Reports to: MAINTENANCE MANAGER



Min Requirements:

• Must have completed a Trade Test as Fitter & Turner
• Be experienced in hydraulics and pneumatics
• Be experienced in steam installations, heat exchanges etc.
• Have experienced of welding of stainless steel, mild steel and alloy steel
• Be experienced in transmissions and drive gearboxes
• Be experience in plate work and boiler making
• Be experience of lathe’s and milling machines

 



Responsibilities:

• To ensure that the routine preventative maintenance is carried out.
• To fill in reports on call outs, breakdown orders, workshop orders and safety orders.
• To carry out development projects, modifications, additions and alterations to existing plant and machinery.
• To carry out the safety programme to the S.E.I.F.S.A. Systems.
• To adhere to the sections of law applicable to the Department and the Regulations according to the O.H.S. Act.
• To carry out annual shutdown maintenance functions to plant and machinery according to the scheduled programme.
• Be prepared to work overtime and shifts if and when required.
• To do lubrication and Hyster driving.
• To carry out steam installations, heat exchanges etc.
• To do welding of mild steel and flame cutting.
• To perform repairs on pneumatic systems.
• To repair transmissions and drive gearboxes.
• Fitting and replacing of belt clipjoints and replacing belts.
• Ability to change all blades on production lines.
• To carry out all hydraulic and pneumatics repairs.
• Boiler and plant start ups.
• Die tool assemble and overhaul.
• To manufacture or repair machine parts and spares on the lathe and milling machines.
• To perform all reasonable duties as given by the Maintenance Manager.
• Adhere to and comply to ISO standards.
