About the position
A well-established and growing packaging and security printing company seeks an experienced Maintenance & Technical Manager based in Mobeni to oversee the maintenance of machines, address breakdowns as per plan requirements, planned maintenance, tagging, lubrication, ensure all machines are cleaned as per schedule, housekeeping, process improvement, health and safety. This is a key role ensuring smooth machine operations, optimised production output and continuous technical improvement in a high-performance manufacturing environment.
Qualifications/Experience required:
- Fitter or Millwright trade test is a must
- Engineering qualification Degree (Mechanical/Electrical) would be advantageous.
- 3 -5 Years experience in a similar role and within the packaging industry
- Expertise in lubrication systems and maintenance.
- Solid background in fault finding and problem solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Maintenance Management
- Oversee and allocate tasks to maintenance fitters and machine setters (Flat Bags, SO Bags, Converting Setters).
- Conduct root cause analysis and maintain critical spare stock levels.
- Design service schedules and planned maintenance programs.
- Order and manage required spares.
- Oversee tagging and lubrication schedules (daily/weekly/monthly).
- Ensure all machinery is cleaned, maintained, and returned to OEM specification when required.
- Breakdowns & Repairs
- Address and resolve breakdowns as per maintenance plans.
- Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify opportunities to reduce staffing and improve processes (packing methods, flow, manning).
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and certification requirements.
- General Responsibilities
- Oversee compressors, lifting equipment, and other essential plant utilities.
- Implement and monitor housekeeping standards.
- Skills Development
- Assess and improve current operator technical skills.
- Develop, drive, and monitor operator training programs.
