About the position
Position open to all races and citizens from other coutries.
The role will focus primarily on transactions within the Metals & Mining sector, including mining services, and is also expected to include exposure to the energy sector. The geographic focus will span South Africa and the broader African continent. In addition to advising on M&A transactions (both sell-side and buy-side), the team advises clients on a broad range of private capital transactions, including equity, debt, royalty, and streaming finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identifying, originating, and developing new client relationships.
- Preparing pitch materials, case studies, and other business development presentations.
- Screening prospective clients and evaluating new mandate opportunities.
- Negotiating and securing new advisory mandates.
- Performing financial analysis and transaction structuring.
- Preparing information memoranda, teasers, and other transaction marketing materials.
- Leading negotiations on behalf of clients and coordinating closely with legal counsel throughout transaction execution.
- Managing transactions from origination through to completion.
- Maintaining and expanding relationships with existing clients and specialist investors.
- Collaborating closely with colleagues across Verdant IMAP's regional offices.
- Contributing to firm-wide business development and sector-focused marketing initiatives.
- Mentoring, coaching, and developing junior members of the team.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of M&A experience, including significant experience within the Metals & Mining sector, and will demonstrate:
- Strong technical capabilities, including financial analysis, valuation, and transaction structuring.
- A proven ability to originate business, build relationships with corporate clients and investors, and generate new mandates.
- Substantial experience within an investment bank, with complementary experience in private equity, commercial banking, transaction advisory, valuations, or a relevant corporate finance role considered advantageous.
